What You Actually Pay: Worked Example at Three Order Values

Illustrative calculation. Recovery is conditional on winning. Retained amounts shown before separate processor fees, goods, shipping and internal work are not net profit.

Both vendors charge 25% on won disputes, so representment costs the same at any order value. The difference is in alerts, where Chargeflow publishes a flat $29 per deflected chargeback and Chargemont quotes per merchant. The table shows vendor fees only; your processor's own dispute fees apply on top.

Detailed comparison of fees and scenarios. Illustrative amounts are not a performance forecast.

Chargemont alert: refund plus fee$60 + undisclosed fee$250 + undisclosed fee$1,200 + undisclosed fee
Counts toward your VAMP ratio?Winning does not itself remove the report. Eligible pre-dispute exclusions depend on program rules and timing.SameSame

The math points to a simple rule. On a $60 order, an eligible alert resolution can qualify for an exclusion for a flat $29. On a $1,200 order with strong delivery evidence, fighting usually returns more. Stripe's own guidance on early fraud warnings reaches a similar conclusion: refunding pays off mainly on charges close to your dispute fee, per Stripe's dispute documentation. Before you sign with any alerts vendor, get the per-alert rate in writing so you can run this table with real numbers.

Alerts Network Coverage: What Each Vendor Discloses

Pre-dispute alerts come from two card network families: Mastercard's Ethoca and Visa's Verifi (CDRN, RDR and Order Insight). Coverage depends on which issuers each network reaches, so the network list matters more than the brand name on the dashboard. Our guide to CDRN and Ethoca alerts explains the differences.

  • Chargeflow: alerts are Visa and Mastercard powered, go live within 24 hours, and carry a zero-duplication-charge guarantee, so one dispute flagged by two networks is billed once.
  • Chargemont: says alerts work across major card networks and most processors, including Stripe and Braintree, with coverage depending on the issuing bank and Amex and Discover coverage that "may vary." Its privacy policy names Ethoca, Verifi/CDRN and RDR; request service-level enrollment confirmation rather than assuming all are active. Chargemont gives an estimate during onboarding.

Why Winning a Chargeback Does Not Lower Your VAMP Ratio

Monitoring scope: Visa’s count-based VAMP ratio uses TC40 fraud reports plus TC15 disputes divided by TC05 settled card-not-present transactions. In the US, Canada, EU and Asia Pacific, the Excessive Merchant threshold became 150 basis points with a 1,500 monthly count minimum on April 1, 2026, subject to acquirer-portfolio treatment. Eligible pre-dispute and CE3.0 exclusions depend on data-extract timing. A refund or a win does not automatically erase a separate fraud report. Confirm your applicable region and treatment with your acquirer.

This is the gap most "Chargemont vs" research misses. Card monitoring programs count disputes when they are filed, not when they are decided. Stripe's monitoring program documentation states that programs "don't consider dispute outcomes," while Visa excludes disputes resolved through pre-dispute products from the VAMP count.

Visa's VAMP fact sheet lowered the excessive merchant threshold for the US, Canada, EU and Asia Pacific from 2.2% to 1.5% on 1 April 2026, alongside a count of at least 1,500 disputes and fraud reports per month. Mastercard's Excessive Chargeback Merchant level starts at a 1.5% chargeback rate and 100 chargebacks, per Stripe.

Example: a store with 100,000 Visa transactions and 1,600 disputes plus fraud reports in a month sits at 1.6%. Winning 70% of those disputes recovers revenue but leaves the ratio at 1.6%. Deflecting 400 through alerts drops it to 1.2%. Chargeflow Alerts let you set dispute-rate targets, budget controls and price filters, so you decide which disputes to deflect and which to fight. Run your own numbers with the VAMP calculator and read our VAMP guide.

Demo Questions and Switching Checklist

Ask these in any Chargemont or Chargeflow demo:

  1. What is the per-alert rate at my monthly volume, in writing?
  2. Which alert networks do you connect to: Ethoca, Verifi CDRN, RDR, Order Insight?
  3. If two networks flag the same dispute, am I billed twice?
  4. Which processors are native integrations, and which need custom work?
  5. How is your win rate calculated: by count or by dollars, and over what period?
  6. Can I review responses before they are submitted?
  7. What are the contract length and cancellation terms?

If you are moving between providers, export every open dispute with its deadline, disconnect the old tool from each processor before the new one goes live so no dispute gets two responses, and coordinate the enrollment transfer with both providers, maintain coverage until the replacement is confirmed, and assign one refund owner. Our guide to switching chargeback providers covers the full timeline.

Chargemont's Shopify app is new, so a missing review history does not mean poor service. It does mean you cannot compare outcomes on public, like-for-like data yet.

Why Chargeflow Is the Best Chargemont Alternative

  • Published prices: $29 per deflected chargeback with a zero-duplication-charge guarantee, and 25% on wins, with no quote needed.
  • 4x ROI guarantee on Automation, on top of wins-only billing.
  • 100% submission rate with AI evidence from 1,000+ data points.
  • One platform for every stage: Prevent, Alerts, Automation and free Insights.
  • Proven scale: 20,000+ merchants, $200M+ recovered and 436 Shopify reviews.
  • Security you can verify: SOC 2 Type 2 and GDPR.

Test Alert Coverage at the Account Level

Chargemont’s privacy policy names Ethoca, Verifi/CDRN and RDR as data recipients for alert services. That disclosure is broader than the network detail on its pricing page, but it does not prove which services are active on your merchant accounts.

Ask for an enrollment record

Store and MID → processor account → descriptor → card network and service → activation timestamp → refund owner → billable event.

Then test an unmatched alert, a prior refund, a duplicate signal and a failed refund. Record whether each case is billed and who resolves it.

For any quoted billable unit, calculate alert spend ÷ successfully deflected disputes. A low per-alert price and a low cost per deflection are different results. Include refunds and remaining chargebacks when assessing total loss. Use the alert-provider scorecard for the acceptance tests.

Preguntas frecuentes

Is Chargemont a chargeback company?

Yes. Chargemont UAB is a Vilnius, Lithuania company that sells chargeback alerts, done-for-you dispute fighting (representment) and help setting up payment processing accounts. Its Shopify app launched on March 6, 2026. Chargeflow covers the same chargeback jobs with automation, published alert pricing and 20,000+ merchants in its network.

How much does Chargemont cost?

Per Chargemont's pricing page, dispute fighting costs 25% of recovered revenue with no fee on losses, and alerts use volume-based per-alert pricing with no published rates. It states no setup fees or retainers. Chargeflow also charges 25% on wins and publishes its alert price: $29 per deflected chargeback.

What are the best Chargemont alternatives?

Chargeflow is the closest alternative for ecommerce brands: it matches Chargemont's 25% success fee for disputes, publishes $29 alert pricing, adds pre-shipment fraud scoring and a free analytics dashboard, and has 436 Shopify App Store reviews as of 2 November 2026. Chargemont vs Chargeflow: which is better?

For ecommerce and Shopify brands, Chargeflow is the stronger pick: the same 25% success fee, published alert pricing, 100+ native integrations, SOC 2 Type 2, pre-shipment fraud scoring and a 4x ROI guarantee.

Does Chargemont have reviews?

The historical October 28, 2026 Shopify snapshot showed no reviews, but its current listing could not be verified in this check. Chargemont’s website claims 300+ reviews without identifying the platform. Chargeflow’s listings checked November 2, 2026 show 4.5/5 from 436 Shopify reviews and 4.7/5 from 278 G2 reviews. Review counts do not establish relative recovery performance.

Do chargeback alerts lower my Visa VAMP ratio?

Eligible pre-dispute resolutions can reduce the dispute component of VAMP, subject to network rules and data-extract timing. A separate TC40 fraud report is not automatically removed. A recovery win or guarantee reimbursement does not itself erase the original report. Confirm the applicable region, count minimum and acquirer treatment.

Chargeflow Automation also charges 25% of recovered amounts; its Alerts service is separately priced at $29 per deflected chargeback before volume discounts.
