TL;DR:
- US Shopify Plus starts at $2,300 USD per month on a 3-year term or $2,500 on a 1-year term, with local-currency rates for CAD, EUR, GBP and AUD on Shopify's help page.
- Shopify quotes a variable platform fee, rate unpublished, for more complex or higher-volume businesses.
- Beyond the base fee, expect a 2.25% + 30¢ US list card rate, a 0.20% fee on third-party gateways, and $300 per month for each store past nine expansion stores.
- Add apps, implementation and dispute operations to the model, then test your own numbers in the worksheet and break-even formula.
Shopify Plus pricing starts at $2,300 USD per month on a 3-year term or $2,500 USD per month on a 1-year term in the United States. Some complex or high-volume businesses are quoted a variable platform fee instead, whose rate Shopify does not publish. Payment costs, apps, implementation and dispute operations come on top, so budget for the whole stack, not only the base fee.
This guide lists the public price components, separates them from the costs set by your quote or contract, and gives you a copyable worksheet to compare your current plan with Plus. For the broader platform overview, see our Shopify Plus guide.

Shopify Plus Pricing Structure
Pricing scope: United States, US dollars, checked 2026-10-07 on Shopify's Plus pricing page. Shopify localizes pricing by country and currency, so confirm your own rate.
| Fee Component | Cost or Rate (USD, US) | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Platform fee, 3-year term | $2,300 per month | Lowest published base rate; requires the longer commitment. |
| Platform fee, 1-year term | $2,500 per month | Higher monthly rate for a shorter contract. |
| Variable platform fee | Quoted by Shopify; rate not published | Shopify says more complex, higher-volume businesses move to a variable fee based on revenue and business model. |
| Shopify Payments card rate | 2.25% + 30¢ for online cards (US list rate) | Third-party transaction fees are waived when you use Shopify Payments. Card rates vary by country, so confirm yours with Shopify sales. |
| Third-party payment gateway | Your processor's fees plus 0.20% per transaction paid to Shopify | Applies to orders processed outside Shopify Payments. |
| Expansion stores | Main store plus 9 expansion stores included; $300 per month per additional store, or a revenue share across all stores | Confirm which option applies in your quote. |
| Managed Markets (optional) | 3.25% fee on Plus (3.5% on Basic, Grow and Advanced) | Global-e acts as merchant of record and Shopify Payments is required. Some chargeback cases are not covered, so you still handle those yourself, per the Shopify Help Center. |
| Checkout | Fully customizable checkout included at this tier | Per Shopify's pricing page. |
The published rates apply to standard setups. A variable fee is a negotiated rate tied to revenue instead of a flat monthly charge. Shopify does not publish the rate or the revenue threshold, so use the figure in your own quote, not third-party estimates.
The 3-year term costs $200 less per month than the 1-year term, or $2,400 less over a full year of billing. Shopify lists the same two terms in local currencies, so use the row for your billing currency (localized Plus plan rates, checked 2026-10-07).
| Billing Currency | 3-Year Term (per month) | 1-Year Term (per month) |
|---|---|---|
| USD | $2,300 | $2,500 |
| CAD | $3,400 | $3,650 |
| EUR | €2,100 | €2,250 |
| GBP | £1,800 | £1,950 |
| AUD | $3,700 | $4,000 |
| JPY | ¥368,000 | ¥398,000 |
| INR | ₹175,000 | ₹190,000 |
Any external payment service provider adds the 0.20% fee on each order, so compare it with Shopify Payments at your volume. For a platform comparison, see Shopify vs BigCommerce.
What the Plus Platform Fee Includes
Shopify's Plus pricing page lists these as part of the plan:
- Commerce tools: B2B tools (see Shopify Plus for B2B), headless API capabilities, Shopify Audiences and ShopifyQL Notebooks.
- Checkout: checkout customizations and Shopify Functions, covered in our Shopify Plus checkout customization guide.
- Retail and international: Shopify POS Pro (the Plus help page lists the first 20 locations as included) and access to Managed Markets, which carries its own fee.
- Migration: Shopify says it does not charge you to migrate, though paid services are available for custom needs.
Shopify states there are no other mandatory costs, but custom development needs a budget for a Shopify Plus Partner. One contract covers one brand: a company with several brands needs a separate Plus contract for each.
What Drives Your Actual Shopify Plus Price
Five things move your Shopify Plus price: revenue, number of stores, number of brands, contract term and add-ons.
Confirm in the sales quote
Five inputs that change the actual bill
Revenue and business model
A variable fee depends on revenue and business model, and it may differ for B2B and D2C sales.
Store count
One main store plus nine eligible same-brand expansion stores are included. Quote additional stores or revenue-share pricing in your market.
Brand count
Each brand needs its own Plus contract, per Shopify.
Contract length
3 years or 1 year changes the monthly base fee.
Apps and services
A Shopify Plus agency, theme purchases, custom development and third-party apps all add recurring or one-time spend.
Bring projected annual GMV, your store roadmap and expected order volume to the negotiation, and audit your paid apps before you commit. If new regions are on the roadmap, decide between Markets and expansion stores before you count store fees; our Shopify Plus global expansion guide compares them.
Shopify Plus vs. Standard Shopify: Term-Aligned Cost Comparison
Compare plans on the same billing basis. The table lists US dollar prices and list rates from Shopify's pricing page (checked 2026-10-07) with the billing term labeled.
| Plan | Price on Annual Billing or Longer Term | Price Paid Monthly or on Shorter Term | Online Card Rate (US) | Third-Party Gateway Fee |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Basic | $29 per month (annual billing) | $39 per month (monthly billing) | 2.9% + 30¢ | 2% |
| Grow | $79 per month (annual billing) | $105 per month (monthly billing) | 2.7% + 30¢ | 1% |
| Advanced | $299 per month (annual billing) | $399 per month (monthly billing) | 2.5% + 30¢ | 0.6% |
| Shopify Plus | $2,300 per month (3-year term) | $2,500 per month (1-year term) | 2.25% + 30¢ | 0.2% |
Compare the 3-year Plus fee with standard plans on annual billing, not with monthly-billed plans. Plus is about 7.7 times the annual-billing price of Advanced ($2,300 divided by $299). The extra spend buys the lower card and gateway rates in the table (list rates in the US; Shopify says Shopify Payments rates vary by country), fully customizable checkout, unlimited staff accounts and priority phone support, per Shopify's pricing page. There is no reliable universal GMV threshold for upgrading, so build the break-even model below from your own quote, payment setup, app consolidation and measured conversion impact.
Do not forget one-time upgrade costs such as re-theming, re-integrating apps and staff training. For the feature-by-feature view, see our Shopify vs. Shopify Plus upgrade guide, and for platform context, our Shopify statistics.
Break-Even Model With an Assumed Store

Monthly platform increase
$2,001$2,300 Plus base fee − $299 Advanced base fee.
Remaining monthly gap
$751$2,001 − $1,250. Other measured benefits must exceed this gap, before additional upgrade costs.
Card-only break-even volume
$800,400$2,001 ÷ 0.0025 in monthly eligible card sales, assuming the same mix and rates.
Illustration only: US Shopify Payments standard online cards, $500,000 monthly card sales, $100 average order and 5,000 payments. Advanced uses annual billing; Plus uses a 3-year term. Premium, international and negotiated rates, apps, development and disputes can change the result. Replace every assumption with your own numbers.
Formula: break-even monthly GMV = (Plus fee - current fee - other net benefits) / (current card rate % - Plus card rate %). This is an assumption-based calculation and does not promise any revenue lift. To see what comparable merchants run on the platform, browse real Shopify Plus stores.

Implementation, Migration and Agency Costs
Shopify does not publish agency or build rates, so treat any third-party benchmark as a starting point and ask for line-item quotes. Cost depends on scope, and these are the lines to separate:
- Data and catalog migration: products, customers, orders and redirects from your current platform.
- Theme build or rebuild: a new theme or headless front end, plus QA across devices.
- App and integration work: re-connecting ERP, OMS, subscriptions and any apps Plus makes redundant.
- Checkout customization: Shopify Functions and checkout extensions, if you need them at launch.
Our guide on how to migrate to Shopify Plus covers the sequence, and amortizing the one-time total over your contract term gives the figure for the worksheet row above.
The Dispute Line in a Plus Budget
Disputes are not part of the Plus price, but they belong in your budget. They add dispute fees, staff time and lost inventory, and they grow with order volume. For the full picture at Plus volume, see our chargebacks and fraud protection guide for Shopify Plus and the chargeback fees and costs guide.
- Dispute fees: Shopify lists a $15 chargeback fee in the US, returned if you win, per the Shopify Help Center.
- Labor: measure the hours your team spends gathering evidence per dispute, then multiply by your loaded hourly cost.
- Fraud and lost goods: LexisNexis Risk Solutions reports that US retail and ecommerce merchants incur about $5.13 in total cost for every $1 of direct fraud loss (2026 study); our ecommerce fraud prevention guide covers the controls.
- Network monitoring: a high dispute ratio can lead to card-network monitoring programs, covered in our chargeback thresholds guide.
Mastercard's chargeback cost research (updated June 2026, by Datos Insights) projects that global chargeback cost will rise from $36.9 billion in 2026 to $46.1 billion in 2029. Sales through Managed Markets or new regions add their own exposure; see our cross-border ecommerce guide. Shopify Protect reimburses eligible fraudulent chargebacks on qualifying Shop Pay orders that meet Shopify's conditions, including a US Shopify Payments account, physical shippable items, tracked fulfillment within 7 days and in transit within 10 days; orders outside those conditions need other controls. Chargeflow's Alerts deflect disputes before they become chargebacks, and its chargeback recovery service handles evidence and submission after one is filed. Its Shopify App Store listing shows performance-based charges by product (checked 2026-10-05), and the Chargeflow Shopify integration installs on any plan. How to Budget for Shopify Plus
Build the budget in six steps, from the platform fee to the comparison with your current plan.
Build the total cost of ownership
Budget in six steps
Platform fee
Use the published rate for your term and currency, or your quoted variable fee.
Payment costs
Use your quoted Shopify Payments rate, or add the 0.20% fee for another gateway.
Store costs
Count eligible included stores, additional stores and separate-brand plans. Use the quoted additional-store or revenue-share pricing for your currency.
Apps and development
Include recurring app fees and one-time build costs from Shopify Plus Partners.
Dispute costs
Multiply expected disputes by your own fee, labor and lost-goods cost per dispute.
Current-plan comparison
Use the worksheet above and count benefits only where you can measure them.
Compare the same sales volume, payment mix and measurement period. Keep one-time implementation costs and ongoing monthly costs distinct.
Worked example: a 3-year term at $2,300 per month plus $1,200 per month in apps and amortized development is $3,500 per month before card fees, additional-store pricing and disputes (assumed amounts for illustration).

How much does Shopify Plus cost in other currencies?
On a 3-year term, Shopify Plus costs CAD 3,400, EUR 2,100, GBP 1,800 or AUD 3,700 per month. On a 1-year term it costs CAD 3,650, EUR 2,250, GBP 1,950 or AUD 4,000 per month (Shopify Help Center, checked 2026-10-07).
What is included and what costs extra?
Included in the Shopify Plus fee per Shopify: the main store plus nine expansion stores, a fully customizable checkout, B2B tools and headless API capabilities. Extra costs include payment processing, stores beyond the nine ($300 per month each or a revenue share), Managed Markets fees, apps, development and implementation, and your dispute operations. A third-party payment gateway adds 0.20% per transaction paid to Shopify.
Is Shopify Plus worth it?
Shopify Plus is worth it when measured benefits exceed the cost difference. Use the break-even formula above with your quoted fee, card rates, app consolidation and labor savings. It is an assumption-based calculation, not a promised revenue lift.
What is the difference between Shopify and Shopify Plus?
Shopify Plus is Shopify's enterprise tier. Compared with Advanced, it adds a fully customizable checkout, unlimited staff accounts, 24/7 priority support, expansion stores and a lower third-party gateway fee (0.2% versus 0.6%), for a platform fee that starts at $2,300 per month in the US.
What are Shopify Plus transaction fees?
Shopify Payments carries no third-party transaction fee, and its US list rate on Plus is 2.25% + 30¢ for online cards (rates vary by country). A third-party gateway adds your processor's fees plus 0.20% per transaction to Shopify; on Advanced that Shopify fee is 0.6%.
Is Shopify Plus pricing negotiable?
The published rates are starting rates. Variable platform fees and exact pricing are set in a quote from Shopify Plus sales, so ask for yours before you budget.
Why is Shopify Plus more expensive than standard Shopify?
Plus is priced for merchants who need its features, such as fully customizable checkout, unlimited staff accounts, priority phone support, expansion stores and enterprise B2B tools. Shopify may also quote a variable platform fee based on revenue and business model for more complex, higher-volume businesses.
How much does Shopify take from a $100 sale?
On Shopify Payments at US list rates, a $100 online card sale costs $2.55 on Plus (2.25% + 30¢), $2.80 on Advanced and $3.20 on Basic. Routing a $100 sale through another processor adds that processor's rate plus Shopify's 0.20% fee on Plus, or $0.20.
Does Shopify Plus protect against chargebacks?
Shopify Protect reimburses eligible fraudulent chargebacks on qualifying Shop Pay orders that meet Shopify's conditions. Orders outside those conditions need other prevention and recovery operations.
