Stripe Statistics 2026: Volume, Valuation and Users

Resumo:

  • Stripe officially reported $1.9 trillion in calendar-year 2025 payment volume, up 34%; payment volume is not company revenue.
  • The $159 billion valuation comes from the tender offer announced February 24, 2026, rather than a public market capitalization.
  • Stripe’s February update counted more than 5 million businesses; its September 8 update described Link as a global network of more than 300 million users. Neither is a monthly-active-user count.
  • About $6.8 billion in 2025 revenue is media-reported by The Information. Its gross-versus-net accounting basis is not established by Stripe’s public annual update.
  • A hypothetical $100 US online domestic card payment costs $3.20 at standard 2.9% plus 30-cent pricing, before relevant additional fees. That merchant fee is not Stripe’s profit.

Stripe’s valuation is $159 billion, set by a tender offer announced on February 24, 2026. Stripe also reported $1.9 trillion in payment volume for 2025, up 34%.

Other key figures describe different groups and dates:

  • Its February update counted more than 5 million businesses using Stripe.
  • A separate September update put Link’s consumer network above 300 million users.

This page separates official disclosures from media-reported financials. It also explains what the numbers mean for you as a merchant.

Use it as a reference for payment volume, valuation, revenue and business growth. Stripe’s public 2025 annual update does not disclose company-wide annual revenue. So reported financial figures carry a separate source label. Last checked: October 14, 2026. If you cite any data here, please credit Chargeflow and link to this article.

How Many Businesses and Users Does Stripe Have?

“Stripe users” can mean three different things:

  • businesses using its infrastructure
  • consumers using Link
  • websites detected by a technology tracker

Those units cannot be added together or used in place of one another.

Population guide · Keep the unit and snapshot dateThree different meanings of “Stripe users”

Use the business figure for merchant reach and the Link figure for consumer-network reach. Neither establishes adoption or conversion among your own customers.

Stablecoins: Industry Context, Not Stripe Payment Volume

The 2025 annual letter puts real-world stablecoin payments at about $400 billion across the industry, roughly double the prior year. This is an industry estimate cited in the letter. It is not a disclosure of stablecoin volume processed by Stripe. The letter came with the Stripe 2025 update. See the annual letter’s stablecoin discussion.

Stripe Payment Volume by Year

Total payment volume is the measure Stripe discloses most consistently. All three figures below are calendar-year totals from Stripe’s announcements. They are not annualized quarters.

Growth slowed from 38% to 34%. Over the same years, the rounded total grew by about $500 billion. The growth rates are Stripe’s own, not recalculated from rounded totals.

Stripe’s comparison with global GDP describes scale. It is not a share of the payments market. GDP is not the total volume of payments eligible for Stripe processing.

Stripe Valuation and Market Cap

As of October 13, 2026, the latest tender valuation Stripe has announced is $159 billion. Stripe announced it on February 24. Investors including Thrive Capital, Coatue and a16z took part. Stripe also used its own capital for repurchases, per Stripe.

Stripe has no public stock-market capitalization because it is private. Instead, announced funding rounds and tender offers give dated valuation points. Private secondary-market estimates may use other prices.

The history below uses Stripe’s announcements of funding rounds and tender offers. Each event sets a valuation at one point in time. It is not a continuously traded share price.

The 2026 tender offer is the highest valuation Stripe has announced. A tender offer prices employee shares. It is not a new primary raise. So it signals investor demand, but it does not measure what the company would fetch in an IPO or sale.

Stripe Revenue: What Is Official and What Is Not

Stripe’s public 2025 annual update discloses payment volume and describes profitability. It does not give a company-wide annual revenue figure. Media reporting and third-party models have different source status. Keep that distinction attached to any revenue number.

Official disclosures, media reports and modeled revenue: keep source status separate

The Information’s reported $6.8 billion is labeled revenue. The accessible report does not establish a gross-versus-net accounting basis. Stripe’s annual update does not supply a reconciliation either. So do not treat this media-reported figure as a verified net-revenue disclosure. Also, do not divide it by $1.9 trillion to infer Stripe’s merchant fee rate.

How Stripe Makes Money: Payment Volume Is Not Revenue

Stripe charges for payment processing. It also offers separately priced products such as Billing and revenue tools. These are three different amounts:

  • a merchant’s processing fee
  • Stripe’s company revenue
  • Stripe’s profit

The example below applies a published merchant price. It does not estimate Stripe’s financial results.

Stripe company revenue

The $3.20 fee alone does not establish Stripe’s recognized revenue or profit. Network and banking costs, contracts and the mix of products matter. No company-wide calculation follows from this example.

Hypothetical calculation using Stripe’s US pricing. Assumes one successful online card payment without manual entry or a refund. Excludes international-card and currency-conversion surcharges, optional products, dispute fees and tax. Custom contracts and other countries can differ.

Analyzing Your Own “Stripe Revenue”

When you look at revenue in Stripe’s Dashboard, you are analyzing your business, not Stripe’s corporate earnings. For payment reconciliation, start with the Balance report:

  • Choose one date range, currency and time zone.
  • Then separate charges, refunds, disputes, adjustments, fees and payouts.

Its gross, fee and net columns describe your account’s balance activity. A payout is a movement of funds, not another sale. Balance activity is not automatically revenue recognized under your accounting policy.

Stripe vs. PayPal: 2025 Volume Comparison

PayPal's figures come from its Q4 and full-year 2025 results (February 3, 2026). Both rows use calendar year 2025.

Both payment-volume totals cover calendar year 2025. But the companies’ operating definitions and product scope differ:

  • Stripe reports volume generated by businesses running on its platform.
  • PayPal’s TPV is a company-wide operating metric. It includes partner-enabled payments and excludes gateway-only activity.

The totals give scale context, not a market-share ranking. The revenue row is not a matched comparison. For PayPal’s own numbers, see our PayPal statistics.

Why Stripe's Scale Matters for Merchants

Company scale helps describe the platform. Your own checkout and dispute records determine its economics for your store. Keep these measures separate when evaluating performance.

Decision guide · Use your own measured cohort and periodTurn scale statistics into merchant questions
Payment value and cost

Reconcile your processed sales, refunds and processing fees in the same period and currency. Track chargeback fees and costs separately so a low processing rate does not hide dispute costs.

Checkout performance

Compare completed checkouts with eligible attempts for the same customer cohort. A global Link network count does not predict your conversion lift.

Disputa operações

Track your disputes, response deadlines and outcomes through a chargeback management process. The Chargeflow integration for Stripe can automate dispute evidence.

Industry context

Use chargeback statistics with their stated date and denominator. Industry forecasts and company payment volume are not your store’s observed dispute rate.

Stripe Statistics FAQs

What is Stripe's total payment volume?

Stripe reports $1.9 trillion in total payment volume for calendar year 2025, up 34% from 2024. The prior totals were about $1.4 trillion in 2024 and $1.0 trillion in 2023. Stripe says the 2025 amount is equivalent to about 1.6% of global GDP. That is a scale comparison, not its payments market share.

Qual é a avaliação Stripe?

Stripe's latest announced valuation is $159 billion, set by a tender offer announced on February 24, 2026. Stripe is private, so this is a transaction price for employee shares and not a market capitalization.

Does Stripe publish its revenue?

Stripe’s public 2025 annual update does not disclose company-wide annual revenue. It reports payment volume and describes Stripe as robustly profitable. The Information reported about $6.8 billion in 2025 revenue. Treat that as media-reported. Its accounting basis is not verified by the public update.

Is Stripe publicly traded?

No. As of October 13, 2026, Stripe is private and has no public stock ticker. Its announced funding rounds and tender offers give dated valuation references. There is no continuously quoted public exchange price.

How Many Users Does Stripe Have?

Stripe announced more than 5 million businesses using its infrastructure directly or through platforms on February 24, 2026. Separately, its September 8 announcement described Link’s consumer network as more than 300 million users globally. Businesses, Link consumers and detected websites are different units. Neither announcement defines monthly active users.

How Does Stripe Make Money?

Stripe charges merchants for payments and other products. At US standard pricing, an online domestic card payment costs 2.9% plus 30 cents before relevant additional charges. That merchant fee is not the same thing as Stripe’s company-wide recognized revenue or profit. Applying it to all global payment volume would ignore contracts, payment types and product mix.

How Do I Analyze My Revenue in Stripe?

Use your own account’s reports, rather than Stripe’s corporate statistics. Select a consistent period, currency and time zone. Then reconcile charges, refunds, disputes and fees in the Balance report. Keep payouts separate from sales. If you need accounting revenue rather than payment activity, use the recognition rules that fit your business.
